Well... I've decided (I hope it's the right decision)

Well... I've decided to go to Perth to finish my final year in Curtin. I've even handed in my application for transfer. Now I've only to wait for the offer letter. Some have asked me if I've made the decision because a few months ago I changed my major because I didn't want to go there. Actually, my reasoning back then was that I wasn't happy with the fact that the college informed me at the end of February that I'm going in July. I was more than pissed off that before that they did not inform me when I called them more than once to enquire about my exemptions. Furthermore I was not ready to go there in a few short months when I've just only started again in a new environment. But that's all in the past now I just need to focus on getting decent grades for this semester which I can safely say it will not be easy because some of the subjects are really tough (for me... I mean Ethics is important and all but learning all those theories is killing me slowly!!) By the way, I'm taking four subjects again this semester:- Strategic Management, Human Resource Management (intro), Ethics in Business and... Environmental Issues in Business . Alright... I know why a business student has to take subjects like Strategic Marketing, Ethics and HR but why the hell am I taking Environmental Issues in Business. When I first enrolled for the subject, like any business student I thought I was going to learn about the business environment. So when I attended my first class, I was more than surprised when the lecturer informed us that we are going to learn about the environment as in pollution, melting polar ice caps and what not. Now I won't deny that I cannot care less about the environment because....well... I'm not going to give eating meat or buy a carrot for 15 bucks (an exaggeration but you get my point...) I get that the natural environment is in danger and we'll all be migrating to another planet soon ala Wall-E but COME ON!!!

I'm more worried about the political environment we live in!! Any Malaysian who has not been living underground for the past few months know s that a big change is gonna sweep us to a new era and it is a change any decent Malaysia will welcome. I've read the online news about the arrests made on Raja Petra, Tan Hoon Cheng and Theresa Kok under ISA. Now I know I'm young and politically ignorant but even I know that the government's decision to arrest these individuals is beyond stupid and if it was not so serious utterly laughable!! I've had friends living abroad asking me if the rumours that there are going to be riots held by the disgruntled and more than unhappy citizens. I had assured them that May 13 is not going to happen again because this time we do not live in a world where the only source of news we get is from the government-owned media. Well , I hope we're not going to have riots because doing so will play directly to the governments hands who will love nothing more than to declare a state of emergency so September 16 will not happen. Still, just to be safe my family has stocked up on canned food and instant noodles just for precaution sake because one never knows what this current government of ours will do next. But I know in my heart and my mind that even if the change will not happen on that date it will happen in the next few days or weeks. We have waited for a government that is not tainted with corruption and what is waiting a few days more? I'm also more than happy to find out that Tan Boon Cheng has been released from ISA and I can only hope and pray that Raja Petra and Theresa Kok will be released soon. After they are innocent people who were only telling the truth (in Raja Petra and Tan's cases) and I strongly believe that Theresa Kok was framed. If and a big if these people committed any crime they should be charged under the court of law and not be locked up under such a draconian act. Listening to the government's 'explanation' was more than anger inducing and so utterly illogical that I wanted to tell them no self-respecting Malaysian will believe the crap they are spewing!!
I know I don't usually talk about politics but I'm more than sick and tired of reading the mainstream newspaper that seldom reports the actual truth!! So I consider this a mini rant that shows my dissatisfaction with the farce all Malaysians are living in. Right now I can only hope that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can deliver what he has been saying for the past few weeks because I shudder to think what is going to happen in Malaysia for the next few years if there is no change in the government.
